happy endings

As spring break comes to an end I am  happy with how i spent my  time. I am excited to get back to  Metal work  and I look forward to   exploring  more new things down the road.

This is the  last of my spring break projects. If you want to  try any of these projects at home  please just give me a shout and I am happy to  share some  great websites that  offer  material and technique suggestions.

Inspired!

April is my month to push myself to  do things out of my comfort zone. I have three new  projects some I like more than others.

The first april project is my Burning Man doll, I am planning to  make her a steam powered  wheel chair since I broke  her leg.She was fun to make but one was enough! She started out to  be  your average  plain Jane.

After a day together she is ready to head to  Burning Man.

Next  I  tried soldering and clay, I am not sure if this is a raven or a crow. It was fun to make  but  I found out that  soldering  galvanized steel is not much fun.

Last but not least I have paint brushes with personalities and attitudes:

I really wish the  details in the  paint showed up. These look  so much better in  real life.

Silly things

I love watching the birds. This morning while my husband was sleeping I decided to make a bird feeder. This only  took a  couple minutes: I am calling her  Queen of the Bird Seed.

All  you  need to  make a  fun feeder is an old barbie or a pine cone, peanut butter and  bird seed.

Take a  butter  knife and  cover the barbie or pine cone with peanut butter.  Then  pour some bird seed on a cookie sheet and roll  Barbie or a pine cone in the  bird seed.

You  will  need to find a  string of some kind to wrap around the top. I used a  string form an old conference  badge.

Here is short  video of Barbies first  suitor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taSDlLF7ZPU&feature=share he has a  foot fetish.

Evergirl art and friends!

A few of my welding buddies at  Green River Community College have been working on some special  projects for a fundraiser this weekend .

The piece I created for this event  was inspired by something my  grandmother  used to  say to me.  ”Flowers bloom where they find room and this is true for people too.”  I started by taking a  World  War ll Howlizter  missile storage container and a couple  car parts ,   turning it into a budding  blooming  bouquet of light!

Light by Cynthia  Freese

Greg Bartol  from  Studio  B  has contributed a copper bird for the  auction

Jack Danielson  made a  one of a kind  custom coat rack,

Donovan made a really cool bench

There are hundreds of items that will be auctioned off!

I love receiving  photos of things I have created in their new homes! Yesterday I received this note from Joyce, who resides in Texas!

“Here is the temporary home for your artwork- my wine buffet. A friends son is getting married on March 17- St Pat’s and the reception is at a bowling alley so your art will be the centerpiece in Dallas.”

It really  looks lovely on her  wine table!  If you are interested in having a  cork  ball of your  own just give me a shout!

1/2 the  money raised  from  my cork  ball project  will  be donated to a  food bank.

Facing My Fears!

Last month I was one of  20 artists that was invited  to participate as a  Seattle Raw Artist. The experience was a  ton of  fun! I got to meet artists, art lovers , migle with some  friends and I even sold  a few  pieces!

I don’t enjoy being in front of a  camera and  speaking in front of an audience is something I  prefer to  leave to  others!   UM! Here is a  my  interview with some shots of my work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGtnYxZUzB0&list=PLCF3130FAB8695622&index=4&feature=plpp_video

I was put on  stage and asked  questions I had no clue what I was  going to be asked.

They  edited out the questions.
You can’t  fail if you don’t  try!  Thanks  RAW Art  for  giving me the  opportunity to share !

Wine bottles are still a work in  progress and I am currently working on two of the lights as the light in this  photo has sold.
