First kiss

Well it is August  6th and I am still working on finishing touches! I am  getting so  close to  being done.I  am pretty  happy with how he is coming alone so I  had to give Idaho his first kiss!

163In case you  missed the  back story on Idaho: He is the 2nd  wire bird I have  made. The first one I  donated to an  art auction  to  benefit our  local art gallery.  I  started with a  roll of  recycled wire that I bought from a friend’s dad for $20.00 summer and heron 011I might  just have enough to  make one more bird!

Happy Independence Day!

I was invited to a  couple  BBQ’s but I  really  just wanted to work on  getting Idaho  finished so that I can deliver him  to his new owners later this month!  The  wire I am using is recycled and is covered in soot (  which  for  some strange  reason is not showing up in this photo. I have spent countless hours cleaning the wire before I  weld it to the frame. This is not a lot of fun! wire1a This is how I am  cleaning the wire.  Tomorrow I am going to try  soaking some in vinegar to  see if that helps. I  used to use vinegar to  clean my  pennies when I was a kid so I  figure it is worth a try..   wire1bAll this time in the shop would not be possible as if it were not for my  good friend Brad Isley. He has volunteered to be my assistant / babysitter( as I not  allowed to  weld on weekends without having someone on site). I  guess catching myself  on fire  last year  upset a few more people than  just me. 😉  So, thank you  Brad for  spending time in the shop with me , thank you  for  for helping cut wire and  for taking the photos.

Here is todays updated progress photo of Idaho. .

My first cast… well of this kind.

first cast I recently starting  working for Native Stone Concrete as a  regional  sales rep. The owner thought it would be a  good idea  for me to  learn as much about the process as possible.

So  last week I rolled up my  sleeves and  got a bit dirty. The art design is by  artist Joe Illig.  This morning Joe picked this piece up to deliver  to a doctors  office. He was very happy with my first pour.

As a child I was  fascinated  with Native American Art so  working with Native Stone Concrete and Joe Illig is like living in a dream.

I am extra excited to have a special guest artist participate!joe Illig

Native Stone Concrete dropped off two pieces designed by artist Joesph Illig. This is  just a sneak peek of what you can expect to see over the next 4 months from Joe and Native Stone Concrete! I am  super excited to have been offered an opportunity to  represent them!

Artist,Entrepreneur,Time Traveler, Lover of Life and Sunrises!

Finding things that others toss aside is where the game starts. I love the challenge of using what I find to create something entirely different. For me creating art is about being able to feel free to be spontaneous. However, my favorite pieces are works that I have been commissioned to make. Those opportunities push me as an artist, forcing me to meet requirements and challenge myself.

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” Thomas Merton

I have found that the more I give the more the things I need find me. A few years ago a friend gave me a KIVA loan as a birthday gift.I logged on and picked the person to loan to and decided to make a team of my own. So far the 51 people on my little team have loaned 109,000 to people all over the world! Loans are $25 each and you pick the country the person the cause. These are loans! They are paid back and you can re gift over and over! Check us out here! >https://www.kiva.org/team/cynthiafreesecom_ kiva-1_153

Happy Twenty Twelve!

If  each  person would resolve to make at least one person happy every day, and then in ten years you may have made three thousand, six hundred and fifty two persons happy, or brightened a small town by your contribution to the fund of general enjoyment.”
Happy New Year everyone!

I  spent  new years making  magnets out of  stuff I had around the house! ( which made me happy)
